The trek from Lares to Machu Picchu begins with the pick-up of travelers from their hotels in Cusco. From there, we will transport you to the picturesque village of Pumahuanca, located in the Sacred Valley at an altitude of 3,150 meters (10,034 feet). From this point, we will begin a hike of approximately 11 kilometers that will take you to the charming village of Puyoc, at an altitude of 4,300 meters (14,108 feet).
Along the way, we will explore the archaeological site of Inca Raccay, located at 3,600 meters (11,811 feet), and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the natural surroundings. Along the way, we will also learn about the local flora and fauna, including plants, flowers and birds of the region. Thanks to the low influx of tourists and with a little luck, you might have the opportunity to observe viscachas and Andean foxes in their natural habitat.
At the end of the day, we will set up camp in the village of Puyoc, at 4,300 meters (14,108 feet). To face the low temperatures of the night, it is recommended to bring gloves and hats. The first day hike lasts approximately 7 hours, offering a complete experience of the majesty and tranquility of the Andes.
The second day of the trek from Lares to Machu Picchu will give you a deep immersion into the culture and nature of the Peruvian Andes. We will depart from the village of Puyoc and descend to Cuncani, located at 3,800 meters (12,467 feet). On the way, we will cross the Sicllakasa pass, at 4,830 meters (15,846 feet), from where we have a spectacular view of the majestic Pumahuanca mountain, which rises to 5,330 meters (17,486 feet). We will also pass near the Yanacocha Lagoon, at 4,500 meters (14,764 feet).
As we make our way to Cuncani, we will have the opportunity to observe the daily rhythm of life in the local Andean communities. This day hike is challenging, with a distance of approximately 12 kilometers (7.46 miles) which translates into about 7 hours of trekking. Despite the difficulty, the visual and cultural rewards along the way make it well worth the effort.
The third day of our trek from Lares to Machu Picchu will begin with a delicious breakfast to prepare us for the day. Afterwards, we will leave the village of Cuncani and head to the comforting hot springs of Lares, located at 3,200 meters (10,498 feet). Along the way, we will have the opportunity to pass through several local communities and admire the crops of native products such as quinoa, potato and tarwi. The visit to the hot springs is optional and the cost will be covered by each participant. In addition, we may be lucky enough to observe birds emblematic of the region, such as hummingbirds and cock-of-the-rock, among other species.
After enjoying the hot springs, our transportation will take us to Ollantaytambo, located at 2,700 meters (8,858 feet). From there, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes, at an altitude of 2,050 meters (6,561 feet). We will spend the night in Aguas Calientes, which will allow us to rest and recharge our batteries for the next stage of the adventure. In total, this day we will cover a distance of 8 kilometers, with a difficulty level considered easy.
The last day of our adventure will begin early with an early breakfast before taking the first buses that will take us from Aguas Calientes to the imposing Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, located at 2,430 meters (7,972 feet).
Upon arrival at the entrance, we will present our tickets and passports to begin the guided tour. Our expert guide will give us a complete explanation of the fascinating history of this Inca site. During the visit, we will explore the main points of interest of Machu Picchu, including the classic viewpoint, the Guardian's House, the viewpoint of the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Rock and the Water Mirrors Complex.
Once the guided tour is over, you will have free time to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, as long as you have booked your tickets in advance. These additional excursions are optional, have an additional cost and require prior reservation due to limited availability.
After our exploration of Machu Picchu, we will return by bus to Aguas Calientes to enjoy lunch. Then, we will take the train back to Ollantaytambo and finally, our private transportation will take us back to our accommodation in Cusco, thus closing this wonderful experience.

POLICIES AND CONDITIONS
Deposits
In order to guarantee any of the services confirmed by the clients who acquired a tourist package, it will be indispensable at least a percentage 40% of the total value of the plan. When making the deposit or payment to guarantee any reservation, the client or Agency declares that he/she knows the conditions of the contracted services and accepts the Hotels, Transportation, etc. registered in this confirmation and that nothing should be understood as included if it is not clearly described in the confirmation of contracted services.
Does not include Tax of 18% only in Peruvian tourist (if passenger requires invoice).
TOTAL PAYMENT:
The outstanding balance must be paid upon arrival in Cusco or before the start of the services.
Failure to pay the outstanding balance will make it impossible to participate in the contracted services (in no case will the company make any refund of the initial payment).
THE PAYMENT WILL BE IN CASH FOR THE PENDING BALANCE or in the last case by bank transfer.
Commissions: All means of payment generate commissions, which vary depending on the method of payment except with credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Diners Club plus 6%) and through PayPal plus 6%. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that it is the client who will assume the costs of the same.
Modifications of ITINERARIES by the client:
Any type of modification by the client generates penalties which will be assumed by the client (promotional rates cannot be modified, no refunds are allowed).
It is important to emphasize that with respect to the Bus tickets CONSETUR, TRAIN TICKETS and MACHUPICCHU ENTRANCE, no modification is allowed for any reason. The change of ownership of the service is also not allowed.
PENALTIES.
NO SHOW. When the user of the tourist services does not show up or does not use the agreed services, MISKI KILLA TRAVEL will charge the following values:
Hotels: 100% of the total value of the unused nights will be charged.
CANCELLATION OR CHANGE OF RESERVATION DUE TO JUSTIFIED FORCE MAJEURE.
When the client or users cancel their trip due to justified illness or death of any of the travelers, it must be with at least one hundred and sixty eight (168) hours prior to the travel date, the request will only be considered if the supports that justify the cancellation are received: (a) Medical incapacity of the EPS, death certificate, etc. Once the supports are received, the exoneration or liquidation of penalties or differences caused by date changes will be processed before the service providers.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Insurance: Miski Killa Travel strongly recommends that the Client purchase adequate travel insurance to cover cancellations, delays, medical expenses, emergencies, interruptions due to unforeseen circumstances, any loss or damage to personal belongings or equipment that may occur in connection with a Trip. Customer acknowledges that Customer is responsible for all loss or damage suffered by Customer, except as expressly provided in these Terms.
- Risk: Client acknowledges that the Trips are adventurous and inherently involve a certain amount of personal risk, especially the Treks. The Client accepts responsibility for all risks associated with a Trip and agrees not to sue or hold Miski Killa Travel or any of its employees liable in any way for any loss, damage or injury suffered by a Client in connection with a Trip.
- Preparation: The Client acknowledges that, while Miski Killa Travel will act in good faith to assist the Client during the Trip, it is the sole responsibility of the Client to ensure that he or she is adequately prepared for the Trip with the correct equipment and any special medical or dietary treatment. requirements that he or she may require.
- Passport Validity: The Client must ensure that his/her passport is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in Peru. This is a requirement of the Peruvian government, and failure to do so may result in the denial of permission to enter the country.
- Visa to visit Peru: It is the Client's responsibility to ensure that he/she arranges and complies with visa requirements, if any, required for entry and stay in Peru.
